Lauren Emery

Director of Tutoring

Lauren has been the Director of Tutoring for two years and has a degree in Secondary Education and Mathematics from the University of Dayton. She taught 8th grade math while living in Dayton, Ohio, and has experience in Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry. She is passionate about Social Emotional Learning (SEL) for all ages in the classroom. She values getting to know every student and family. She can’t wait to meet you!

Linda Gump

Owner

Linda has owned College Tutors of Barrington since 2016 and later purchased College Tutors of Wheaton in 2020. She has a BA in Biology from Washington University and a Master in Business Administration from the University of Chicago. Her goal for College Tutors is to provide an environment that fosters lifelong learning. She is a local and has raised a family of three girls with her husband, Joe. She strives to make a difference in her community by supporting local schools and families.

Angelica Carrillo

Marketing Coordinator

Angelica has been with College Tutors since May of 2023. She is a recent graduate from North Central College with a degree in Organizational Communications and a minor in Marketing. She is passionate about making a difference in the community by being involved with the chamber and giving back to local schools.

Rachel

Rachel is a fantastic tutor who brings great experience and value to our team! She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education Mathematics and looks forward to having her own classroom in the future. Rachel has a passion for mathematics and works with students of all ages in the subject. She brings a positive and healthy outlook on the subject that many students struggle to see before working with her.

Vanessa

Vanessa is a recent graduate in Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience from Loyola University Chicago. She is passionate about science, learning, and supporting anyone she meets. Vanessa is a kind and supportive tutor, always working to show students they are capable of learning and that it can be so rewarding to enjoy the process.

Zach

Zach has a passion for helping his students succeed in math as well as increase their SAT and ACT scores. He earned a 1560 himself on the SAT and a 35 on the ACT! Zach believes in making learning fun and focusing on growth and results along the way.

Nemo

Nemo has a background in Computer Science and Early Childhood Education as well as experience both in and outside the classroom working as both a paraprofessional and a tutor with us. Nemo works with our elementary and Special Needs students as he has a passion for all ages and all diverse needs.

Kaia

Kaia is a current student at Northern Illinois University and majoring in Biology and pursuing pre-med! She is passionate about learning, supporting children academically, and all STEM subjects! She speaks Polish and also loves Spanish! Kaia is a kind and patient tutor, always willing to meet her students where they are and help them foster a growth mindset to explore and improve.

Rea

ea is a current student at University of Illinois and pursuing her degree in Biology with a Pre-Veterinary track and a minor in Mathematics and English. She is passionate about both animals and people and wants to do her part to help wherever she can.

Michael

Michael is a recent graduate in Business Analytics with a passion for working with students. He has experience working with a wide range of students from middle school up through college and adapts to best support each individual learner. Michael is well versed in many topics, making him an excellent study skills and test prep tutor. Michael is a kind, hardworking, and dedicated tutor, always making sure his students feel supported and see their potential.

Mia

Mia is a recent graduate in Political Science and has a passion for helping others to succeed and grow. She has experience working with elementary students to grow and develop both their reading and math skills. Mia strives to meet each student where they are at, yet maintain standards that will help them succeed and see progress. She has a passion for the written word and loves to read, write, and help others to share in her love for English.

Shefali

Shefali has been a member of our tutoring team since 2020 and continues to be a valuable, fantastic tutor for her students. She has her degree in Secondary Education and is pursuing her Master’s in Humanities. Shefali has a passion for tutoring all subjects, especially math and science. Her passion for learning and educating shows in the way she supports her students and helps them to succeed.

Fiza

Fiza is a recent graduate in Biology on a Pre-Med track and currently applying for Med School. She is passionate about helping others in any way she can. She has experience working with students ranging from middle school to college and feels she learned something from each student no matter their age. Fiza is a confident and compassionate tutor, always driving her students to succeed while supporting them along the way.
